We know our Youth love doing productive things with their time and talents, and if unchanneled, could head to a series of misfortunate outcomes, which we share our stories with them.
But, when harnessed, supported, and given the resources and opportunity to fly, these youngins show up and take flight!
We encourage our mentors to engage them where they are and let the process take it's course. However, to ensure that we empower, we focus on 3 areas of interest:
1.) Character Development 2.) Financial Literacy, Education and Entrepreneurship 3.) Maximizing time, talents and treasures
The CHALLENGE is to any interested individual, business or organization in the eastern Baltimore County region for a pilot.
For 1-hour of community work dedicated to service work to LOFLJ, and a 1-on-1 sit down with a mentor from the Organization and/or the partner, where the time is split between the 2 mentors giving suggestions/ advice in the individual mentee, or group's area of interest.
If the mentee, is interested in music, art, production, any area of interest that we can provide in-house men-tour-ing on, then we are offering to match their service work with an hour of recording and video production work / or training with an entrepreneur/ local artist with experience in that area of interest.
Some of our mentees in our target pop ( youth and emerging adults - 16-26 ), and to our returning citizens, (up to 35) who have experiences and passions who coincide, and the mentoring process and working together creates magic, and the opportunity to plant good seeds, and let their support systems water them so that we can help our youngins get it, by creating passive/ portfolio income stream options by establishing them as individual artists.
